Ahmed Hussain Khan - Sitar - LP released in India in 1980

Here a rare LP by a brilliant, but little known Sitar master. The Mian Achpal Gharana he belongs to seems to be a branch of the Qawwal Bachchon ka Gharana and the Delhi Gharana. Mian Achpal was a legendary singer in early 19th century. See: https://www.swarganga.org/artist_details.php?id=698
That he is so little known might be due to the fact that quite early in his career he settled in Madras and started a school there. So he was far away from the part of India where Hindustani music was prevalent. Later two cassettes by him were released.
I bought this LP 2 or 3 years ago from a German record seller. I'm sure that he himself bought it in India. It was quite expensive though it was not in the best condition. It suffers from the weaknesses LPs in India generally suffer from, as mentioned in a previous post. This one has no waterstains, but it seems to have been used very much.

Darbhanga - Pandit Abhay Narayan Mallik - Dhrupad - Live in Concert

We present here some more beautiful recordings by Pandit Abhay Narayan Mallik. This CD probably was never published. I even don't know if this label ever existed. It seems that an Indian collector made out of these recordings from unknown sources a private CD and created covers for it. This person seems to take a great pleasure in creating covers and to let them look like real ultra rare releases. Which is sort of funny and sympathetic. And looks nice.
I received these recordings from an Indian collector based in the US. Many many thanks to him for his kindness to share these.

Imrat Khan - Surbahar & Sitar - Music from India Series 10 - LP published in Great Britain in 1969

Here another LP from the Music from India Series, in which between 1965 and 1969 a number of beautiful recordings were released, which were at the time amongst the most easily available recordings of classical Indian music in Europe. Earlier EMI - His Master's Voice had already released a number of other LPs. We had posted recently two by Vilayat Khan from 1962 and 1963.
See here a complete discography of the Indian releases in the British ASD series:

This our 7th LP by Imrat Khan.
