Annapurna Devi & Ravi Shankar - Some rare Surbahar recordings from the 1950s

CD 1:
Annapurna Devi:
1. Raga Kaunsi Kanada
2. Raga Manjh Khamaj

CD 2:
Annapurna Devi & Ravi Shankar:

"She has not recorded any music albums. But some of her performances (notably, 1. Raga Kaushi Kanara and Raga Majh Khamaj, Surbahar recital; and 2. Raga Yaman duet Surbahar recital with Ravi Shankar) that have been secretly taped from her earlier (1950s) concerts, are non-commercially available among a percentage of music lovers in India."

For more information see:

Many thanks to KF who made a nice double CD out of these recordings.

hi, I thank you for half a world of good music that I learn through you. I have also a few requests.
1 how can I contact you? other than through these comments, for when I click on Tawfiq I get a contact link that does not seem to work for me.
2 I am looking for some albums on Melodiya called First Recordings from Georgia (5 seperate albums). There is a compilation cd that has not even half the music, and I am curious, hopefully you want to help. thank you.

What a wonderful post! Pity that none of the links are currently working. It says “Public
file busy due to extreme demand”, on all four links. How come? Please help!

This is exactly the reason. Too many people are downloading it this moment. You have to be patient and try again at another time of the day or night.

Re: my last comment. Should have been just a temporary adrive maintenance side-effect.
Everything is working fine now. Thank you so much Tawfiq for the incredible stuff
you post here, and especially for these precious Annapurna recordings. I had
only heard so far a couple of snippets of her playing on YouTube, but this is the real
thing, so thanks again!

Thank you so so much for your effort. Unfortunately, the links says : 'The webpage at http://www.adrive.com/public/CDHM5u/Annapurna%20Devi%20-%20CD%201%20-%20wave.zip might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. '

Could you kindly look into this ? Many thanks in advance.

I wonder if you could revive the links? They seem defunct. It would be a great privilege to listen to her full album, on this day of her passing.

All the links are working perfectly. The fault must be on your side. Keep on trying. It can be sometimes that when too many visitors try to download at the same time, a limit is reached. So if this is the case one has to be patient.
